COLORADO SPRINGS — Jeremy Vasquez, a 16-year-old boy shot Nov. 5 during a teen domestic violence incident, has improved to fair condition.

The boy’s family issued a statement Tuesday thanking doctors, nurses and staff at Denver Health Medical Center for providing “outstanding care for Jeremy.”

The family also thanked Colorado Springs residents for “all the love and support they have shown.”

Andrew Brown, 17, was distraught over the recent breakup with his girlfriend, police said. He shot Vasquez and then shot and killed Michael Fisher, 18. Brown committed suicide.

A victims fund for Vasquez has been established at all ENT Federal Credit Union locations in Colorado Springs.
