Peter Boyles is a biker, a KHOW talker, a giverand now a newspaper columnist.

He’s writing a monthly column for the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle titled “Blasting With Boyles,” illustrated by a color pic of Boyles in full midlife-crisis mode, riding his Bourget motorcycle and wearing a leather vest and leather cap.

“I’ve always wanted to do it, I guess,” he says of columnizing. “And I work free. And I get to poke fun at people. And people kept coming up to me thinking I’m Dick Kreck. So I thought I might as well do it.”

As for the biking, he says, “I don’t drink, I don’t get loaded, and I love my wife. The only thing left is motorcycles.”

He’s busy organizing a breakfast at 8 a.m. Dec. 15 at Shotgun Willie’s, the peeler club in Glendale. For $25 you get a McDonald’s breakfast and a ringside seat for the Glendale Ballet — all proceeds going to Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, or TAPS, a nonprofit that helps children who have lost a parent in the war.

“Chrome and thunder and pipes and dancers,” he says. “Everyone’s invited — just don’t bring your kids.”

Christmas dates. Free screening of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at Neighborhood Flix 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Next door, the Tattered Cover Colfax hosts a pajama party 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a reading of “Grinch” and an appearance of the Grinch himself. Lannie Garrett performs a holiday concert Dec. 18 for the senior residents at the Barth Hotel. The Oxford Hotel’s 17th annual Dolls Tea serves it up at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Good eats. 5280 magazine is out with its annual roster of the best new restaurants, “10 Hot Spots for Denver’s Freshest Dishes.”

But writer Amanda Faison fesses up that “just about half are located in the Boulder area.”

It’s true. Boulder is Colorado’s new chow headquarters, with the state’s most inventive and heralded restaurants. We have Black Cat Bistro, Centro and Radda in Boulder — with Radda coming out on top of my list. Try the prosciutto pizza with the fried egg on top. Try anything.

And try Colterra in Niwot.

Closer to home, Faison picks Big Hoss Bar-B-Que Steakhouse on Tennyson, French 250 in Cherry Creek, the adored Fruition on East Sixth Avenue, Sushi Den’s sister restaurant Izakaya Den, Frank Bonanno’s Larimer-based Osteria Marco and Vita in Highlands.

City spirit. Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf and kids spotted at the Ritz-Carlton in Bachelor Gulch near Beaver Creek last weekend. CD release party 7:30 tonight at Oriental Theater with Braddigan, J.E Borgen and more. Lobbyist Gina London and comedy acrobat husband Scotty Walsh welcomed Isabella Raven Walsh to the world at 6:40 p.m. Monday. Everyone great, says mom. 100 percent of biz 6-9 tonight at Maloney’s Tavern donated to Judi’s House. Sez who: “Santa is very jolly because he knows where all the bad girls live.” Dennis Miller
