Four garbage bags packed with 46.8 pounds of marijuana were seized by the Silverthorne Police Department following a routine traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.
Police pulled Thomas Ray Long II, 36, over after he was driving a GMC Denali in the wrong lane, failed to stop at an intersection at Third Street and Adams Avenue and almost hit a patrol car that had stopped to help a stalled vehicle head-on, according to a press release.
The officer noticed a “very strong odor” coming from the SUV and searched the vehicle, the release said.
Long was arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of eight ounces or more of marijuana, and failing to drive in correct lane after police discovered the bags of marijuana in the car.
Long has been released on a $7,500 bond from the Summit County Jail.
