Denver-based building materials supplier Pro-Build plans to purchase HD Supply, a wholesale distribution company that provides products largely to builders, contractors and others.
Officials at Pro-Build, which has 500 locations in 40 states and more than 400 lumberyards, confirmed Friday that it has “signed a letter of intent to acquire all of the assets of HD Supply Lumber & Building Materials,” said spokeswoman Carolyn Atkinson.
She declined to provide more details, saying the transaction is in its early stages.
Home Depot in August sold HD Supply to three private equity firms — Bain Capital, the Carlyle Group, and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Inc. — for $8.5 billion. The lumber and building-materials unit of HD Supply has locations in Florida and Georgia.
