GREELEY — Jabril Banks had 17 points and nine rebounds as Northern Colorado defeated Colorado State for the first time in 20 years with a 72-59 victory Saturday night.

Robert Palacios added 12 points. Jefferson Mason and Taylor Montgomery had 11 points each for Northern Colorado (3-3). The Bears had 19 offensive rebounds that led to 20 points.

Marcus Walker led Colorado State (4-3) with 17 points. Willis Gardner had 16 points for the Rams, who had beaten Northern Colorado eight straight times.

The Rams led by as much as 51-47 with 8:52 left. But UNC’s Will Figures hit an uncontested 3-pointer to tie it at 53.

Akron 96, Wyoming 71

  • AKRON, OHIO – Cadrick Middletown scored 23 points to lead four players in double figures and Akron beat Wyoming 96-71 Saturday night for its 13th straight win at home.

    Nick Dials and Jeremiah Wood scored 20 apiece for Akron (5-1) and Quade Milum added 19 points.

    Wyoming (3-3) was led by Brandon Ewing’s 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting.

    St. Martin’s (W.Va.) 71, Regis 67

  • PUEBLO – Regis shot just 13-for-33 from the free throw line and St. Martin’s topped the Rangers (3-2) in the Chuck Stevens Classic.

    Metro State 72, Johnson & Wales 68

  • Jesse Wagstaff’s season-high 29 points and a game-deciding 3-pointer with less than two minutes left led Metro State at the Auraria Events Center.

    NW Nazarene 77, Colorado Mines 71

  • NAMPA, IDAHO – Northwest Nazarene (5-0) won the Shilo Inn & Suites Classic with a title-game win over the Orediggers (4-2).
