A Denver home was gutted by fire Sunday night and a family of three has been displaced.
The fire started at about 8:30 p.m. in the rear of the home at 62 Alcott St., said Lt. Phil Champagne, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.
Firefighters found the home in heavy smoke and with visible flames when they arrived, Champagne said.
The family, two adults and a 16-year-old, were not home when the fire broke out, Champagne said.
Firefighters put the fire out in about 40 minutes. They were hampered by the cold weather, Champagne said.
The fire remains under investigation.
The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
