The whoops and hollers that greeted the first few models on the runway at the MAX fashion show on Saturday night were as likely a sign of joy that the show was finally starting as they were accolades for the pretty frocks.

Max Martinez has had plenty of experience in putting on fashion shows, but the auctions and announcements that accompany fundraisers have a way of dragging things out.

When it was finally time for the models to hit the runway at the Volunteers of America benefit, there was plenty to look at. Highlights included Missoni’s short, caftan-style knits, a tiered and scalloped dress from Stella McCartney, figure-hugging dresses by Narciso Rodriguez and Herve Leger, island-inspired prints from Diane von Furstenberg and short-shorts from Doo.Ri. Max also threw in three hunky male models to give the audience a little eye candy. They wore designs from Jean-Paul Gaultier, Yigal Azrouel and Rodriguez.
