Anyone and everyone is encouraged to submit a five-minute (or less) ski/snowboard film to the Silverton Film Fest known as “The Beating” before Dec. 14. Created with the low-budget underdogs of the ski-flick world in mind, The Beating was designed to be the “core” version of “The Meeting,” where big-budget films are premiered in Aspen every fall.

Winner of the viewer’s choice award in Silverton will take a $500 step toward a bigger budget for next year, while the best overall winner will spend a day at the Studio411 headquarters (seen on FuelTV) in Los Angeles and will meet with members of various divisions for an exclusive look into the business side of action sport films.

Films will be ranked by a panel of industry bigwigs based on creativity, entertainment value and quality. Viewing and judging will be held at the Silverton Mountain Miners Theatre (1069 Greene St., Second Floor) at 7 p.m. on Jan. 4. Visit for more details.
