BENNETT, Colo.—A fire that forced the evacuation of three homes south of Bennett and Interstate 70 has been contained after growing from a 20-acre blaze to 170 acres.

Crews from at least five agencies are putting out hot spots and trying to prevent flare-ups.

Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson says the homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters and heavy equipment were sent to the scene about 20 miles east of Denver.

The fire was contained by 1 p.m.
