An air conditioning unit on the roof of a dining hall under construction on the CSU campus caught fire this morning, injuring one worker.
Firefighters with Poudre Fire Authority put out the fire after running a hose up a stairwell to the roof, said Capt. Patrick Love, an authority spokesman.
The fire started at about 6:20 a.m. at the Dining Commons of the New Academic Village, 800 West Pitkin St., Love said.
No students were inside the two-story building, Love said. Firefighters had to deal with heavy smoke and one construction worker was treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene and released.
The fire was doused in about ten minutes and firefighters stopped it from spreading beyond the roof. The second story of the building did suffer some smoke damage, Love said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. A dollar damage amount was not released.
