A toddler in Pueblo has been hospitalized with the flu, according to health officials there — the first hospitalization of the flu season in Pueblo County, and the eighth in the state. The child had not gotten the flu vaccine, according to county health officials.
Two flu patients in Jefferson County, two in Adams County and one each in Boulder, Kiowa and El Paso counties have also been hospitalized, and the state health department is reporting “low but gradually increasing” levels of flu activity in the Front Range, but no outbreaks in the state.
“Flu is here,” said Sarah Bruestle, a public information officer with Pueblo’s health department. “The best thing you can do is get a flu shot, if you can.”
Flu shots are recommended for most people, according to Pueblo County, but in particular for the very young, the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions.
