SALT LAKE CITY — With limited options to control the flow of traffic during a major reconstruction on a stretch of Interstate 80, the Utah Department of Transportation is trying something new.
UDOT has installed moveable barriers that will allow one of the five lanes to shift directions, depending on the demand.
UDOT is shutting down the westbound lanes east of where I-80 and I-15 connect south of downtown. Two lanes have been added on the eastbound side, and the five lanes will share the traffic burden for the next nine months.
