A powerful snowstorm dropped up to two and a half feet of snow on the Colorado mountains over the weekend, and forecasters say another, weaker storm is on the way.

The Silverton Mountain and Wolf Creek resorts each reported 30 inches of snow. Some of the state’s larger resorts reported from 3 to 9 inches of new snow.

Eastern foothills towns reported up to 9 inches, and the northeast plains reported 5 inches in places.

The National Weather Service said snow is expected to start falling in the southwestern mountains again tonight and Tuesday, with “significant” accumulations possible.
