SUNDAY
— 12:30 a.m.: A gunman kills two people and injures two others at the Youth With a Mission training center in Arvada, a Denver suburb, after being told he couldn’t spend the night. Philip Crouse, 24, and Tiffany Johnson, 26, died, and Charlie Blanch, 22, and Dan Griebenow, 24, were injured.
— 1 p.m.: A gunman with a high-powered rifle kills two people and wounds three others after a service at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. The gunman died at the scene. Sisters Stephanie Works, 18, and Rachael Works, 16, were killed and their father, David Works, 51, was wounded. Also injured were Judy Purcell, 40, and Larry Bourbannais, 59.
— That afternoon: Police find several smoke-generating devices on the Colorado Springs church campus, possibly to be used to create a distraction.
— That night: Authorities say the attacks could be related.
MONDAY
— Authorities identify the gunman as Matthew Murray, 24, of Englewood. Investigators search the Murray house in the Denver suburb for guns, ammunition and computers. Police say in court papers that Murray had been thrown out of the missionary training school a few years ago and had been sending it hate mail.
— Murray’s family issues a statement in the evening asking for forgiveness on behalf of their son, and expressing grief for the victims and their families.
