Denver International Airport said it had a record number of passengers for the month of October, when nearly 4.2 million passengers used the airport.

That was the busiest October ever for DIA and marked a 5.2 percent increase in passenger traffic over the same month last year.

DIA expects to set a record for passenger traffic in 2007, surpassing the record 47.3 million passengers in 2006. With DIA passenger traffic up 4.7 percent for the year through October, the airport is on track for nearly 50 million passengers this year.

“Denver continues to be a very strong aviation market, with intense airline competition and relatively low fares,” DIA manager Turner West said today in a statement.
