DENVER—Two retired Denver police officers with about 70 years of combined experience will head the security team for the Democratic National convention next August.

Convention committee CEO Leah Daughtry said Tuesday that Frank Conner has been appointed security director and Jim Malone as his deputy for the Aug. 25-28 convention.

Conner is a former lieutenant with 35 years of experience. He has overseen security for a number of major events including the 1997 Summit of the Eight conference.

Malone has 30 years of law enforcement experience. He will work on convention transportation and housing issues as well as assist Conner.
