Following a long-sought ratings victory, KCNC anchor Molly Hughes will step down to become a “special correspondent” for Channel 4. The station announced Hughes will leave to spend more time with family while continuing to serve as a correspondent. The change takes effect at the end of the month.
Hughes joined Channel 4 in October 2001 from WDTN-TV in Dayton, Ohio, becoming anchor of the 5 a.m., 6 a.m. and noon newscasts. In June 2002, she became co-anchor 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. with Bill Stuart, and then with Jim Benemann since he rejoined the station in 2003.
