Getting your player ready...

Todd Sauerbrun says he didn’t do it.

The question is, why was he in a position for anyone to question if he did it? Why was he out, late at night, in a trendy part of town, with alcohol in the equation?

Sauerbrun, the Broncos’ enigmatic punter, is accused of assaulting a cab driver. If so, at least he got it half-right. He was in a cab instead of driving home after a night on the town.

But his situation is troubling on various fronts. For one, he already has had his name attached to steroids and been suspended by the league for using a banned substance, yet he put himself in trouble’s way once again.

His latest escapade could cost him his job. Maybe that’s what it will take for Sauerbrun to get the message: stay home where it’s safe.
