ST. CLOUD, Minn.—Freshman goalie Richard Bachman stopped 26 of 27 shots and third-ranked Colorado College went 7-for-8 on the penalty kill to hand No. 17 St. Cloud State its sixth consecutive loss Friday night.

The Tigers (11-4-0, 11-2-0 WCHA), who won for the ninth time in 10 games, went 1-for-5 on the power play. The goal came when Nate Prosser one-timed a shot from the left circle, off the left post and in behind Huskies redshirt freshman goalie B.J. O’Brien at 9:03 of the first period.

Freshman defenseman Ryan Lowery made it 2-0 late in the period when he flipped a 45-foot shot from along the right-wing boards. The puck innocuously slipped between the pads of O’Brien, a surprise starter who had just one previous college appearance.

O’Brien was pulled to start the second after making 11 saves. Freshman Dan Dunn made 21 the rest of the way, allowing only a goal by Scott McCulloch with less than six minutes to go in the game.

The Huskies (7-8-2, 3-7-1) solved Bachman with a man advantage and 41 seconds left in the second period. Ryan Lasch one-timed a shot from the left of the crease.

But McCulloch picked the top left corner on Dunn and the Tigers survived despite being short-handed for most of the rest of the game as Mike Testwuide drew a five-minute penalty and game misconduct for checking from behind.
