Mortgage rates, which had been sliding, went up last week, disappointing news to would-be homebuyers. Freddie Mac, the mortgage company, reported Thursday that 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.11 percent, up from 5.96 percent the week before. Below are average mortgage rates in Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties as of Friday and the previous 52 weeks. The one-year Treasury bill average reported by the Federal Reserve Bank is 3.17 percent. The Cost of Funds Index for October from the Federal Home Loan Bank (11th District) was 4.233 percent.
