A safe place for Michael to stay
Volunteers in Carbondale are working with Habitat for Humanity to remodel a family’s garage into an apartment, nicknamed Mikey’s Place, for Michael Grandbois, who has cerebral palsy and autism.
The goal is to turn the garage into a safe, comfortable place for Michael to live. Features will include radiant floor heating, rather than unsafe exposed baseboards, and a lockable kitchenette.
The bathroom will be specially designed to accommodate Michael’s needs, and an additional bedroom and bathroom will be located above the garage apartment where Michael’s caregiver can live.
Alpine Bank has created a fund for those wishing to donate.
Home milk delivery on rise
The earliest survey from the Department of Agriculture on home milk delivery was in 1963, when nearly 29.7 percent of consumers had milk delivered. By 1975, the number had dropped to 6.9 percent of total sales, and by 2005, to just 0.4 percent.
Now the milkman appears to be making a comeback. In addition to appreciating the convenience, consumers like to buy a fresh, local product. Consumers are increasingly willing to pay a premium for home-delivered milk , said Norm Monsen, a consultant for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

Trinchera Ranch sale sets record
The $175 million sale of Trinchera Ranch in the San Luis Valley to hedge-fund manager Louis Moore Bacon set the record for the most expensive single-family home sold in America, according to the Luxury Home Institute.
“We got knocked out of the top sale in the world by a sale in London recently,” said Lee Miller of MSGPR, a public relations company that does real estate marketing.
Sheik Hamad of Qatar paid the equivalent of $200 million for a London home.
Colorado also held the distinction of the most expensive U.S. listing — $135 million for the Aspen home of a Saudi prince.
