DENVER—A teenager wanted in connection with a shooting at a Las Vegas school bus stop that wounded six young people agreed Friday to return to Nevada without a legal fight.
Nicco Tatum, 18, was arrested in Denver on Wednesday when he got off a Greyhound bus from Las Vegas. Authorities believe he was bound for Chicago, and U.S. marshals tipped authorities in Colorado that he would change buses in Denver.
At a brief court hearing Friday, Tatum said he would not resist efforts to return him to Las Vegas, where he faces six counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and six counts of battery with a deadly weapon.
Tatum said only “yes” and “no” as he answered Denver County Court Judge Melvin Okamoto’s questions. He wore thin green prison garb and slumped his head forward when he walked.
He is one of two people wanted in connection with the Tuesday shootings. Police say a school bus had just unloaded high school students on a busy Las Vegas street corner when shots were fired.
Alejandro Rios, 18, and a 17-year-old male remained hospitalized Friday. Rios was listed in fair condition. The 17-year-old asked that the hospital not release his information.
A 21-year-old man and three other teens were treated for less severe wounds and released soon after the shooting, authorities said.
Police have said they believe the shooting was connected to a fight over a girl at Mojave High School earlier Tuesday.
Police spokesman Jose Montoya said both the gang and violent crime units were investigating and were looking into reports about a fight at the same bus stop the day before.
