A 51-year-old man has been arrested for investigation of second-degree murder after the discovery of a woman’s body in a Greeley apartment complex.
The man is identified as Dennis Alvin Sierra.
Sierra was apprehended around 9:15 p.m. Sunday after Greeley police officers investigated reports of shots being fired at the complex, located at 1104 Sixth St.
Greeley police spokesman Joe Tymkowych said a resident of the complex called police and indicated that he had heard an argument and then a couple of “pops” that sounded like fireworks in an apartment in the building.
Tymkowych said police eventually contacted Sierra outside the building and established that he was a resident of the apartment where the disturbance occurred.
After talking to Sierra, the officers went into the apartment and found the dead woman.
Tymkowych said police obtained a court-approved search warrant and based on evidence found in the apartment took Sierra into custody.
He said the investigation is continuing.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
