A 46-year-old Arvada man has been sentenced to five years in prison for hitting and killing a man who was sitting on the pavement after being involved in another traffic accident.

Patrick Moore received five years in prison for vehicular homicide-drunken driving, two years in prison for the charge of hit and run resulting in death and one year for drunken driving.

The sentences, which will be served concurrently, will be followed by a five-year parole. Moore was found guilty in October on the charges.

On Sept. 26, 2006, Moore drove into an accident scene at West 64th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard where he hit and killed Mario Draves Santiago-Bumbico, 22.

Santiago-Bumbico had collided with another vehicle while riding a motor scooter and was sitting in the street looking dazed.

Witnesses said Moore ran over Santiago-Bumbico and kept going. Court documents show that Arvada police were at Moore’s house when he arrived and arrested him.
