Getting your player ready...

Reflecting their 6-8 record, the Broncos placed just one player on the AFC Pro Bowl team announced today.

The player was Champ Bailey, who is widely considered the NFL’s best cornerback even in a season when he didn’t have many of his signature big plays.

“It’s a little bittersweet because we haven’t met our team expectations for the season, but it’s an honor to be respected around the league and by fans,” Bailey said in a statement.

Three other Broncos who were worthy of Pro Bowl consideration – defensive end Elvis Dumervil, receiver Brandon Marshall and middle linebacker D.J. Williams – were not named.

The AFC’s three Pro Bowl defensive ends were Kansas City’s Jared Allen, Miami’s Jason Taylor and Tennessee’s Kyle Vanden Bosch. The top four AFC receivers were New England’s Randy Moss, Indianapolis’ Reggie Wayne, Cleveland’s Braylon Edwards and Cincinnati’s T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

The AFC’s middle linebackers were Houston’s DeMeco Ryans and Baltimore’s Ray Lewis.
