The provost of the University of Colorado’s Denver campus is resigning to become president of Valparaiso University in Indiana.
Mark Heckler’s resignation was announced by CU-Denver chancellor Dr. M. Roy Wilson this morning in an e-mail to faculty and staff.
Heckler, who will begin the new job in July, was selected unanimously by Valparaiso’s 40-member board of directors, Wilson said.
Heckler has been at CU for 12 years as a dean, interim vice chancellor for student affairs and then provost, or chief academic officer. He helped lead the university’s tenure reform study and form the College of Arts and Media.
