The Broncos were hoping their fade-to-black routine was an even-year kind of thing, but no such luck.
The Bronx in 2002 started 7-3, but finished 2-4.
In 2004, they started 7-3, but lost three of their last six.
In 2006, they were 7-2 and tied for first place in the AFC West, only to finish 2-5 and miss the playoffs.
Not that I need to remind you of what has happened this year, but the Broncos have lost three of their last four games to fall out of playoff contention with two games remaining on their schedule.
Next up, 2008. If ever there were a good year to reverse a trend, that’s the one.
