The United Airlines’ employee count in October appears to have stabilized, remaining roughly the same as the previous year, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
The figures break a trend of a shrinking work force at Chicago-based United, the largest carrier in Denver. United’s headcount has been declining from more than 95,000 in 2001 to about 79,000 in October 2002, to under 60,000 in October 2003 and gradual declines since them. But for October 2007, United’s full-time equivalent employee count was roughly 52,400, up 0.03 percent from a year earlier.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines has been steadily growing, and continued that growth in October with about 5,194 full-time equivalent employees, up 15.1 percent from 4,513 a year earlier.
