Gov. Bill Ritter will release his comments today on the federal plan for oil and gas development on the Roan Plateau.

The governor had requested a 120-day review after the Bureau of Land Management released a plan in June calling for limited drilling. Ritter refused to divulge his decision Wednesday while meeting with more than 100 environmentalists, sportsmen and representatives of the energy industry. He said only that his comments will focus on maximizing the economic benefits of drilling while minimizing the environmental impact.

“We will continue to be stubborn,” he said. “The Roan is a very special place.”

Ritter reminded people that he is commenting on an existing proposal for the Western Slope site.
