Colorado State University will host the 2008 Collegiate Road National Championships, USA Cycling announced Thursday. CSU and Fort Collins will host the event in 2009 as well.
The CSU cycling club was named the 2007 collegiate club of the year. As many as 500 riders will compete for 18 national titles during the three-day event, May 9-11.
The highlight of the event will be the spectator-friendly criterium in downtown Fort Collins on Sunday, May 11. Other events include a team time trial in Buckeye and a road race between Horsetooth Reservoir and Masonville.
Air Force lacrosse coach honored
Two national organizations recognized Air Force lacrosse coach Fred Acee for his service to the sport.
The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association gave Acee its Frenchy Julien Service Award for outstanding and continuous service. The Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association bestowed Acee with its Creators Award for his advocacy, leadership and spirit for the game.
