ROMANTIC RIVERSONG
1765 Lower Broadview Road, Estes Park, CO 80517, 970-586-4666,
Rates: Start at $150 and go to $295. There’s a reason the Riversong Inn added “romantic” to its name a few years ago. Everything about this place says “love.” The 10 rooms have different themes with amenities to inspire passion: a rock fireplace, jetted tubs, a waterfall shower, views of stars and snow-capped mountains, even a swinging bed. Parking available just outside the inn.
Stay here if you: Want to impress the love of your life, rekindle romance, begin a hot affair or just want a beautiful mountain retreat where you can be pampered. Gourmet breakfasts are provided; special dinners cooked by the inn’s chef are available for a fee.
It’s close to: The town of Estes Park, with its galleries and shops, and Rocky Mountain National Park, where you can recreate year-round. A river runs through the property, as do many hiking trails.
The rooms are: A feast for the senses. Some are in the main lodge, others are cottages. Some are rustic, others modern. The Wood Nymph ($295), for instance, has a willow canopy bed and fireplace, reading nook, bay window table and jetted tub under skylights. Visit the website for photos and descriptions.
They put all of the money into: Everything. Gary and Sue Mansfield have owned the bed and breakfast since 1987 and have updated continually to create a memorable experience. The rooms are heavenly, but so is the atmosphere. Massages, champagne and keepsakes are a part of some of the packages. One, for couples about to be engaged, provides nearly everything for the special evening except the ring.
The bottom line: The inn has grown famous over the years, so book early, and make sure you ask about any discounts that might apply. Two-night stays usually are required.
