Police in Colorado Springs are investigating a possible homicide today that could break the record for slayings in the city.

Police were called at about 12:25 p.m. to the 900 block of North Murray Boulevard on a report of a man slumped over in the front passenger seat of a white Dodge pickup truck, said Sgt. Creighton Brandt.

The dead man’s head and face were bloodied, but no weapon was found in the truck, which was parked at Murray Hill Apartments.

The death remains under investigation, but if it is a homicide, it would break the record of 27 homicides in the city set in 1991, 1999 and 2002.
