A man found slumped over in a pickup truck died of multiple gunshot wounds and became the record 28th murder victim this year in Colorado Springs, officials say.

Adrian Jimenez-Torres, 31, of Colorado Springs, was found Friday at 12:24 p.m. in the parking lot of the Murray Hill Apartment complex at 924 N. Murray Blvd., said Lt. Mark Smith of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed an autopsy today, concluding the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and that it was a homicide, Smith said.

The previous high for homicides in Colorado Springs was 27 in 1991, 1999 and 2002, he said.
