DENVER — A fire Saturday evening in an apartment building at 2500 South York St. sent two occupants to the hospital and displaced more than 20 residents, Denver fire officials said.
Department division chief Joseph Gonzales said the two victims were taken to Denver Health Medical Center. He did not know their conditions.
The fire started in a second-floor apartment of the four-story structure, which had about 30 units. Fighters had the blaze out by 7:30 p.m., and they then worked to vent smoke from the building.
Officials said residents would not be allowed back in the building Saturday night, so they asked the Red Cross and Regional Transportation District to assist displaced residents.
