JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two people were arrested over the weekend for investigation of charges of stealing more than 375 pieces of mail that included gift cards, cash, wine and a box of homemade cookies.
Sheriff’s deputies apprehended Michael Pantera, 27, of Denver and Sophie Shafer, 18, of Bailey on Saturday in the 27000 block of Richmond Hill Road.
The stolen mail was recovered at the scene, authorities said.
The previous week, more than 140 mailboxes had been targeted in the same area, and a large amount of mail was recovered.
Pantera and Shafer were booked into the Jefferson County Jail on theft charges. Investigators are attempting to determine whether Pantera and Shafer are responsible for several burglaries in the Conifer community.
