Frontier Airlines is hoping to win an Emmy in January for its “favorite animal” campaign, after garnering a nomination for a technology and engineering Emmy award.
Advertising firm Grey Worldwide New York created the campaign for Frontier in January, asking people to vote for their favorite animal. It was nominated in the category of “Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for Best Use of ‘On Demand’ (Consumer Scheduled or Programmed) Technology Over Broadband Networks For Active ‘lean-forward’ Viewing (PC).” The winner will be announced Jan. 7 at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The campaign included 15 television commercials, other commercials on , a podcast with a candidates’ debate, an online campaign at with a blog and special merchandise including T-shirts, buttons and stickers for the “candidates,” who were the animals pictured on the tails of Frontier’s planes and in its commercials.
Frontier announced at the end of the five-week campaign that the favorite animals were penguins Joe, Jim, Jay and Gary.
According to Frontier’s press release, “Flip the Dolphin is practicing his acceptance speech, and Jack the Rabbit is trying to find a tuxedo that fits.”
