A man suspected of killing a 3-year-old girl in Grand Junction has been taken into custody by Jefferson County authorities.
Charles D. McEachern was wanted on charges of first-degree homicide and child abuse resulting in death more than a year ago, said Sgt. Paul Quimby, a spokesman for the Grand Junction Police Department.
The girl, who wasn’t identified, died of a blow to the head on June 9, 2006.
“He was the boyfriend of the child’s mother. He was the child’s caretaker during the time the injuries were sustained,” Quimby said of McEachern.
Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies today arrested McEachern, who was living in Littleton.
