It’s a flip book for adults, a way to find great restaurants, food shops and landmarks while racing through New York, trying to eat in the seven new hotspots before they are replaced by the next hotspots that night. “Mappetite: New York”($12, ) is cleverly arranged to flip sideways by neighborhood and then split to fold up and down; the well-designed locator offers up such oldies-but-goodies as Balthazar and hipster haunts such as Momofuku, with descriptions, addresses and phone numbers. True, you will look like the tourist you are when you haul it out, but better that than be caught dead in the wrong place. The only downside: Although the stock it was printed on feels heavy, one good spill of a martini and the thing will sog through and tear — laminating would have been a good idea.
