DENVER—Brock Trotter had a goal and two assists to lead Denver to a 5-3 victory over Dartmouth in the championship game of the Wells Fargo Denver Cup on Saturday night.

The teams combined to score five goals in the third period.

J.T. Wyman scored a shorthanded goal 3:57 into the third period to pull Dartmouth to a 2-2 tie.

Jesse Martin flipped the puck from behind the net off of Dartmouth goaltender Mike Devine’s back and into the net at 9:13 of the period to give Denver a 3-2 lead, and Chris Butler scored what would be the game winner on a power play five minutes later.

Tyler Bozak’s empty net goal at 18:50 gave Denver a 5-2 lead.

Rob Pritchard scored a power-play goal for Dartmouth in the final minute to make it 5-3.

Trotter’s goal in the first period gave Denver the early lead before Pritchard scored on a power play at 3:23 in the second period to tie it at 1. Eight minutes later, Kyle Ostrow scored on a power play on a feed from Trotter to put Denver on top 2-1 heading into the third period.

Devine had 31 saves for Dartmouth. Peter Mannino stopped 30 shots.
