A Lakewood condominium was destroyed and two others were damaged in a fire late Friday at a 10-unit complex on Ingalls Street.

All of the residents, who are renters, were able to get out safely, though none had renters’ insurance, said Micki Trost, spokeswoman for West Metro Fire Protection District.

Investigators are still looking into how the fire started in Unit 7 at 1037 Ingalls St. When firefighters arrived, flames were whipping out the windows and the roof, Trost said.

The family in Unit 7 is staying with relatives, and the American Red Cross helped them find clothing.

Units 6 and 8 were also damaged, but people were able to return and sleep there late Friday, Trost said.
