1907: Colorado’s governor called upon all district attorneys and peace officers to enforce the dry law against Sunday saloons, gambling, prizefighting and other forms of lawbreaking. This meant that the first Sunday in the new year would be dry.
1957: Marilyn Van Derbur, Miss America of 1958, prepared for a recording session with Decca Records for her album, “Miss America Plays for You.” She rehearsed on the organ eight hours a day for the session.
