BOULDER — Crews are expected to begin demolishing the University of Colorado’s old fine arts building on the Boulder campus next month to make way for a $63.5 million visual arts complex.

The new, 170,000-square-foot building will house the department of art and art history and the CU Art Museum. It’s to open next year.

It is the last of four large-scale projects funded by students through a capital-construction fee, enacted by the student government in 2004. The other projects are a new technology center, a new law school building and renovation of the business school building.
