BROOMFIELD, Colo.—A state trooper faces a charge of driving under the influence while he was off duty earlier this month.
Monty Wherry is scheduled to enter a plea on Wednesday in Broomfield County Court. He is on paid administrative leave.
The 37-year-old Westminster resident was arrested early on the morning of December 1st after he was pulled over for making an improper turn.
Wherry has been a trooper since 2000 and is assigned to patrol the Boulder-Broomfield area.
State Patrol Sergeant John Hahn says an internal investigation will determine whether Wherry keeps his job.
