Brent Olson scored twice Sunday as the Air Force hockey team rallied to tie Minnesota 2-2 in the consolation game of the Dodge Holiday Classic in Minneapolis. The Gophers won the ensuing unofficial shootout to take third place in their annual tournament.

Olson scored on a wrist shot with 62 seconds remaining in the third period. Alex Kangas had 30 saves for the Gophers and stopped all four shots he faced in the shootout.

Tigers fall short.

Massachusetts’ Matt Burto scored at 1:55 of overtime to give the Minutemen a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Colorado College in the championship game of the Lightning College Hockey Classic in Tampa, Fla. Chad Rau scored twice for the Tigers, who had a 2-0 lead after the first period then twice rallied to tie the game. CC’s Drew O’Connell finished with a career-high 39 saves.

Shore helps U.S. beat Russia.

Denver native Drew Shore, who has committed to play for the University of Denver, scored in a 6-2 victory over Russia for the U.S. national under-17 team.
