Getting your player ready...

Are you pumped up, golf fans?

After all, it’s been … days since the 2007 season ended.

For those still in withdrawal, the PGA Tour tees off its 2008 season today with the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Kapalua, Hawaii.

It’s such a momentous occasion that Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are becoming regular no-shows for the event. (Sound familiar, International fans, who hoped year after year to get Tiger?)

Woods is skipping this tournament for the third consecutive year, saying he wants to spend more time with his family. Mickelson hasn’t played at Kapalua since 2001, and didn’t even bother to tell tournament officials why he is a no-show.

Also missing are British Open champion Padraig Harrington, who traditionally takes January off, and Adam Scott of Australia, who withdrew over the weekend citing exhaustion.

Fore-ward to April and the Masters, please!
