A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting Saturday night in Greeley, which may have been over a woman, police said today.
Police responded just after 8 p.m. to a home in the 2500 block of Ash Avenue and found a 54-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, whom police would not identify, was rushed to North Colorado Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police investigators then executed a search warrant at a home in Eaton and arrested Mauricio Puente-Hernandez.
Investigators said they believe Puente-Hernandez and the victim were both interested in a woman, which could have led to the shooting.
Puente-Hernandez was booked on a charge of first-degree murder, criminal mischief and harassment — domestic violence, and he is being held without bond. The case also is being referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for evaluation.
The police investigation continues.
