COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—New Mexico senior guard J.R. Giddens has been named the Mountain West Conference men’s basketball player of the week, marking the second time he’s received the honor this season.

Giddens scored 23 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds to lead New Mexico to an 86-85 overtime victory over UTEP at El Paso on Thursday.

He also finished with 16 points and eight rebounds to pace the Lobos to 99-92 win over Wyoming in double overtime at Laramie on Saturday.

For the week, Giddens averaged 18 points, 13.5 rebounds, 6 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.

The last time he was player of the week was Nov. 19, according to conference records.
