Vail Resorts Inc. announced key changes to its management team Tuesday, including an outgoing executive who will take the top spot at Vancouver-based Intrawest ULC.

Bill Jensen, president of the company’s Mountain Division and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain, leaves Jan. 31 to become chief executive at Intrawest, which owns Winter Park, Copper and Steamboat Springs resorts.

“He has been a true leader within both the Vail community and the U.S. ski industry,” Rob Katz, chief executive of Vail Resorts, said in a written statement. “When your company is the clear leader, consistently embodying excellence, it is the ultimate compliment for other companies to be interested in your people.”

Jensen will be replaced by John Garnsey, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Beaver Creek Resort, and Blaise Carrig, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Heavenly Mountain Resort. They will run the Mountain Division together and will keep their current positions. Senior vice president of marketing and sales Chris Jarnot becomes chief operating officer of Vail Mountain.
