An intoxicated Arapahoe County man who was shooting at cans in his front yard has been arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and prohibited use of a firearm.

Justin Johnson, 30, was arrested last night on the 5900 block of South Platte Canyon Road after he admitted shooting at a bale of hay and the cans, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.

Just before 9 p.m. a deputy answered a loud-noises call at the address and saw muzzle flashes from across the street, Robinson said.

Authorities quickly set up a perimeter around the house and a dispatcher called the home and told Johnson that he was surrounded and that the occupants should leave the home with their hands above their heads, he said.

Four people including Johnson surrendered without further incident, Robinson said.
