Angie Stevens, one of Denver’s finest alt-country singer-songwriters, celebrates her birthday Jan. 11 with a show at the Walnut Room. Stevens will be joined by special guests for this performance.

Nicole Torres & the Affiliates. Fresh off the release of the new LP “Out of Harm’s Way,” Torres and her band will take on the Lion’s Lair Jan. 11 as a part of the Under the Hood series. Also playing: Girl Named Kyle, Kenzi, DJ Kristen and the Echts.

Red Cloud West. There’s good reason to be excited about this show, which features some of Denver’s unique rock voices in Denver’s newest room, the Falcon – which has a killer PA, by the way. Red Cloud West headlines the Falcon on Jan. 12, and they’ll be joined by Autokinoton and Absolute Zero.

Asleep at the Wheel. Western swing is still alive with these cats, who play Jan. 12 at the Soiled Dove. Opening the show: the Hickman-Dalton Gang.

Sea Wolf. Sea Wolf released one of 2007’s best records in “Leaves in the River.” The songwriting is sterling, the sentiment is true and the playing, including bits of accordion and cello, is lush. The L.A. group plays Jan. 15 at the Larimer Lounge.

The Bravery. Yes, this band is a silly indulgence, a fluffy, dance-pop outing. But they still have their fans, and they’ll all be at the Bluebird on Jan. 17.
